Owner / CEO
Established in 2014 by Alva (originally from Northern Ireland), aGlo was created with a special purpose in mind. The business name ‘aGlo’ is especially poignant to Alva, who named it in memory of her sister Olga (aGlo backwards) who although has been gone for many years, continues to live on in our everyday lives. Alva believes the salon’s success is due to her sister, doubling in size after only the first year! The salon is based on representing integrity along with a friendly, inviting atmosphere, qualities representing Olga who was one of the most charismatic and fun loving individuals she knows (who also happened to be very talented at hair and beauty!)

Frequently Asked Questions
We understand that at times you will need to cancel your appointment. At aGlo Salon & Skin Clinic we have a strict 48 hr cancellation policy in place for all bookings. If you need to reschedule or cancel, simply call the salon on 54525720 to change your dates or times with the 48 hour time frame in mind. We are a small family run business and your time slot is held specifically for you, so we need to operate this cancellation policy in order to accomodate another booking in your place. If you only give us 24hrs notice then there will be a 50% charge, and same day cancellations and no show appointments will incur 100% charge of the value of the booking as these appointments are more difficult for us to fill last minute. This charge is not something we want to enforce and is not a punishment, but it has become necessary due to the huge impact it has on our weekly costings. We do understand that the unexpected emergency does happen sometimes, or sudden sickness, and in these cases we will adjust accordingly. CALL AND CANCEL NOW

Gel is a conditioning nail treatment. It's main point of difference is the ingredients. It dries/cures in a LED lamp, not UV. It has a thicker consistency than shellac, therefore it is a lot stronger. The top coats comes in different strengths so it can be adapted to suit different nail conditions and clients needs. Gel will not damage your natural nails, and when you decide to stop having it applied, your nails will be in good condition underneath. It lasts 2-4 weeks depending on nail growth and how you look after them. Shellac is called a power polish or gel polish. It looks like nail polish, goes on like nail polish but it sets/cures in a UV/LED lamp like a gel, and it can last for up to 2 weeks. It has a thin look and feel just like nail polish but it can still chip or peel. It is however not a conditioning treatment, and is not recommended for use on weakened or damaged nails. It is perfect for those who like manicured nails for a special event/weekend, or for an occasional treat.
Medical grade skincare differs from products found in mainstream stores as these non-medical formulas usually have restrictions on the ingredients and pH levels, which medical-grade skincare does not have. As medical grade skincare is formulated and prescribed by doctors or clinical physicians, you’re able to use a higher concentration of active ingredients which will produce more noticeable results. Although in-active ingredients are not completely ineffective, they are mainly used for cleansing and moisturising the skin, not to treat specific skin conditions.
Active ingredients are scientifically or clinically proven for their efficiency and results. Usually they have been through a thorough investigation of the long term outcomes and changes on a physiological level and have to maintain this evidence.
